Dean Nakhle at the helm of the Business School

29/08/2017

Dr. Samer Nakhle, the new Dean of the Business School, is eager to meet the exciting challenges facing him in his new position.
“This is a new university, and I will be working together with my colleagues to establish its brand, and to develop a Business School that has a particular and distinctive character.”
Despite his relatively young age, Dean Nakhle, 40, comes to his new job with considerable experience. Prior to joining Azm University, he was chairman of the master’s program at Balamand University’s Business School, and had taught at a number of other celebrated institutions, including AUB, LAU, and the Business School of Lausanne.
For a number of years, he also lectured at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, from where he obtained his Ph.D. in Human Resources Management with a grade of Excellent.
Dean Nakhle is also an accomplished researcher, with many publications to his name. In September, he will be presenting an article at the Euromed Conference in Rome on “The effect of nepotism/wasta on HR practices in Lebanese and Tunisian companies.”  During that conference, he will be receiving an award for “best journal article” from academic publishers Emerald.
On October 18, he will be giving a lecture at the University of Fribourg on “Management in the Arab World,” and the very next day he will lead a workshop at SIETAR Switzerland – Zurich on “Working with the Middle East, curse or opportunity.”
Recently, his article on “The effect of culture on performance appraisal in Lebanese and Tunisian subsidiaries of French MNCs” was accepted for publication in the prestigious Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology.
His interest in Tunisian companies stems from his working relationship with a French-Tunisian researcher and his belief that the business climate in Tunisia has many similarities with that of Lebanon.
Above all, Dean Nakhle considers himself an educator and enjoys developing new approaches to teaching and engaging in creative techniques in delivering his workshops.  He is looking forward to be part of the “From Local to Global” philosophy at Azm and building a strong relationship with the student body.
The university is very happy to have him on board.
