Trustee Ramsay Najjar: A Great Loss

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of our Board of Trustees member Mr. Ramsay G. Najjar who passed away on November 19, 2020 at the age of 68.

Mr. Najjar was a leading media and communication expert in the Middle East, with close to 40 years of dedication to the field. He was the founder and chairman of Strategic Communication Consultancy (S2C) as well as the founder of Saatchi & Saatchi Levant, chairman of Rouge Inc., chairman of the Marketing Department and Member of the Board at the School of Advertising of the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA).

He was also previously the President of the International Advertising Association, Lebanon Chapter and the President of the SLAA. A prolific writer, among the many books he authored are “Arab Philosophy Through History, So That God Comes Back to Lebanon  and The Right Not to Remain Silent.

Mr. Najjar joined the Board of Trustees of Azm University in October of 2019 and was immediately committed to the task. He firmly believed in the future of the institution and brought to bear his considerable knowledge to help sharpen the mission of the university.

“Lebanon and the University have lost a great thinker, known to the entire Arab World for his knowledge, his creativity and generosity,” said Dr. Abdul Ileh Mikati, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “The university offers his family, friends, and all those who knew Ramsay Najjar, our deepest condolences. May his soul rest in peace.”

“This is devastating news. When he was nominated and agreed to join the Board of Trustees of the University I was overjoyed, and, true to character, he immediately started to make a difference. A very great loss to each one of us and to the institution,” said President Ramez Maluf.

The Board of Trustees, the staff and faculty of Azm University extend their heartfelt condolences to Mr. Najjar’s wife Leila and to his sons Mazen and Ghassan, and to the entire Najjar family.
